It's free, what are you waiting for?

Ok for this book the title is literal. You get just a touch or glimpse of the story. It is a compilation of glimpses by some of what I would classify as the best authors out there right now. How can you go wrong with names like Glines, Hoover, and Mcguire, just to name a few.

I'm not sure whom I would recommend this book to. Perhaps someone who isn't sure what they want to read next or someone who simply loves what these authors have done so far and are simply anxious to get a little inside track to what is coming. I fall in the latter category myself.

I had the pleasure of reading about half of these five star reads in their entirety already. Now, after reading the aptly named, "Just A Touch", I know I have to read the rest of the books now too. The ones on my Kindle Wish List already have been bumped up to high priority reads. The few that weren't on the list now have been added! Packed full of useful information and strategies

Packed full of useful information and strategies. Particularly good for infants and toddlers but helpful for older children too. It has not eliminated the need for glasses but has kept prescription from going up (which it had every year until we started doing eye exercises).

This book is not easy to read. It is full of medical terms. It would be much easier to do the exercise if there are pictures.

About the Author
Kenneth W. Wright, M.D. currently holds an appointment at Head of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Department at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He formerly held an appointment as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, which included teaching responsibilities with ophthalmology residents at the USC Doheny Eye Institute and Children?s Hospital of Los Angeles with pediatric residents. Among professional associations, Dr. Wright is an active member of theAmerican Academy of Ophthalmology, American Research Vision Organization, and the American Association of Pediatric and Ophthalmic Surgeons, as well as in General Pediatrics with the American Academy of Pediatrics. His credentialsas a leader in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus are well founded as hechairs the Membership, Credentials, and Nominating committees of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology. His most well known publications include the series which he co-edited with Stephen Ryan (author of our Retina book) entitled Color Atlas of Ophthalmology (8 volume set, each volume 200 pages, 125 illustrations, 71 of which are color, J.B. Lippincott, published 1991) and the definitive reference, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, published by Mosby in 1995.

Sharon Padilla-Alvarado has worked more than 30 years in Higher Education. As the first person in her family to attend a university, she keenly understands the first generation college student experience. Having completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology & Spanish, and her Master's Degree in Education (Administration & Policy Analysis) at Stanford University, she is familiar with the demands on students attending selective private universities. She is also familiar with the needs of students enrolled in Basic Skills and ESL courses, and transfer students, having worked at four California Community Colleges and two California State Universities. Sharon has extensive experience in the area of university transfer and authored The Insider's Guide To Transferring (Bedford/St. Martin's, 2014). She has motivated thousands of high school and college students to set high goals for themselves through fun, hands-on workshops. Great book for 1st generation college students, high school seniors, college freshmen, transfer students, and Veterans!!!

I wish I had this book when in college! Reading through the exercises and case studies, I realized it is packed with information that would have made my academic journey much shorter. Today, as a professional in the education and workforce field I can see how this book will help so many. I believe it can benefit high school seniors, college freshmen, first generation students, transfer students, Veterans, international students, and non-traditional or older students. The information can also be helpful for parents and other family members who need tools to guide and support their children with college related decisions.

The book includes a variety of exercises that can assist students gain multiple skills. Some of the exercises I found to be most useful were on how to set a budget, identify a learning style, effectively take notes, and plan a semester schedule. As a visual learner, I also appreciated that each chapter included a space to take notes and provided a section to write: things to think about, remember, and do.”

Also, the writer includes a section on multicultural and leadership practices that can benefit all students. A great part of the college experience is learning how to engage and work well with people from various ethnic and racial backgrounds, I truly believe this section would be useful for students to think about and learn how to gain these skills early on.

A great book for new college students and parents!

This is a great book for both new college students and parents! As the parent of a new college student I found the information very helpful. It has been 20+ years since I was in college and things have definitely changed. This book has a ton of great information. I like how the information is organized and easy to follow. The self assessment pages are very helpful at identifying where your student may need some help or more information on the topic. I like how the book talks about time and money management. Both are very important topics to discuss before your student goes off to college. Overall I highly recommend this book!
