Emotion modeling has been an active area of research for almost two decades now. In spite of the growing and diverse body of work in emotion modeling, designing and developing emotion models remains an art, with few standards and systematic guidelines available to guide the design process, and to validate the resulting models. This state-of-the-art volume includes extended versions of eight papers presented at two workshops: Standards in Emotion Modeling, SEM 2011, held in Leiden, The Netherlands, in August 2011, which focused on the challenges, progress and open questions regarding emotion modeling standards, and Emotional and Empathic Agents, EEA 2012, held in conjunction with AAMAS 2012, in Valencia, Spain, in June 2012, which focused on strategies for reducing the complexity of affective models and model re-use. The papers have been organized into two sections: generic models and frameworks, and evaluations of specific models. They represent a sampling of the current efforts toward the development of more systematic methods for emotion modeling, toward the development of standards in emotion model design and validation, and toward more pragmatic approaches to model development, including model component sharing and re-use. The topics range from efforts to define minimum functionalities for agent emotion models and provide tools for systematic comparisons of alternative approaches through approaches to integrating multiple processing levels within an agent architecture to papers exploring the best means of generating empathy and supportive behavior in virtual agents and attempts to address the requirements for realistic modeling of affective expressions across multiple types of social interaction (individual, group and cultural).

With plenty of vino Izzy celebrates her freedom from obnoxious Prince Harry. However, the next morning she wakes up stunned to find she shares the bed with the Australian hunk. As amazed and mortified as Izzy is; Harry is equally astonished but secretly pleased though also flustered with the turn of the screw (apology to Henry James) their dysfunctional employer-employee (albeit former) relationship took.

This Flat in Notting Hill contemporary (see Sleeping With The Soldier by Charlotte Phillips) is a lighthearted romance in which the two bickering stars take their battle from the boardroom to the bedroom. Very powerful, moving account of what actually happened the night Oscar Grant was murdered

Thandisizwe Chimurenga speaks as though she was at the trial, every step of the way, because she was. I thought the book was very informative of the way white supremacy is actually portrayed. I really enjoyed the challenge of reading the book it gave me the opportunity to analyze and look into the case as if it were my job. You stated a lot of good facts in the book on white supremacy and what it really is. My favorite parts in the book would have to be when you listed the reasons why police always get away with murder and the comments people were saying. Although the comments were extremely painful for me to read I sat a read them just to understand what these people had to say. I believe this is a book that everyone should read it informs you on a lot of things you may have never knew. I know before I read this book that I was never aware of these things and I never took the time to actually learn about them but then I read this book and it opened me to actually critically look at everything around me and ask questions that relate to the situation. A total thumbs up for this book. Great Job

There's undeniable energy (and a lot of exclamation points) in Vanzant's personal entreaties; she's fond of ringing but generic affirmations of God (who is "awesome," "magnificent," "amazing" and "a skilled negotiator") and self ("I praise my body! I love my body!"). "Every thought, every word, every action is a prayer," Vanzant says, but she still offers specifics: there are prayers for "Alignment with God" and for blessing married couples; to "Eliminate Tiredness or Exhaustion" and to give thanks. Her fervent desire for the Divine presence in every facet of life will be inspiring for many, but others might find her detailed invocations ("Teach me to monitor my thoughts and desires to ensure that they are filled with love, harmony and peace for myself and everyone in my life in all situations and under all circumstances"; "Please purge my agenda today. Take out of my life everything...that could possibly take my focus from you") a trifle demanding. Replete with "I" statements, many of her prayers seem self-absorbed; the longer, more reflective ones, such as "Prayer When Ending a Relationship" and "God's Promise" strike deeper chords. In 1994, the National Association of Equal Opportunity in Education, an organization comprised of the presidents and administrators of the 117 predominantly Black colleges in the United States named her Alumni of the Year. She also was awarded an "Oni" by the International Congress of Black Women as one of the nation's unsung heroes, and she served as the national spokesperson for Literacy Volunteers of America in 1998.

In 1999 she was listed among the 100 Most Influential African-Americans by Ebony magazine. Later that year, she was awarded the 31st NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Literary Work, Non-Fiction" for Yesterday I Cried. She also earned her first Honorary Doctorate degree, Doctor of Humane Letters, from the City University of New York, Medgar Evars College. In 2000, she earned her second honorary degree, Doctor of Divinity, from the Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, Ebony has named her one of their "55 Most Intriguing People," Vibe magazine tabbed her one of "100 Leaders of the New Millennium" and Newsweek recently included her as one of the "Women of the New Century."

The mother of three and grandmother of four, Vanzant lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with her husband Adeyemi and Mr. Coco, their cat.

Every Day I Pray is a wonderful collection of prayers for many situations we all find ourselves in. I have been on a dedicated search to find a way to incorporate prayer into every aspect of my life, and am so thankful I found Iyanla Vanzant's books. Thank you Iyanla for putting into words that EVERYTHING we do/say/think is noticed by God and we should give it all to Him/Her in thanks. I especially like that Iyanla writes God as He/She, Him/Her, as I believe God to be a duality of both the male and female. God Bless and I hope you find what you need in this lovely book.

Wonderful book for young professionals

This book is a wonderful collection of prayers for all occasions, when you're feeling anxious, thankful, overwhelmed or confused. You can read it each day and say a prayer according to your life that day. Its a way to speak with God everyday and not necessarily complain or ask Him for something, but rather just talk with Him.

Its small and light and you can take it anywhere you go.

I bought this book because I wanted to repair my relationship with God. I went to Catholic School for 18 years and was very much at odds with what I was taught. But I knew that even if I didn't belive like a Catholic, I believed. And I wanted to be able to talk to God in a beautiful way. This book certainly helped me do that.

Buy it, you won't regret it.

About the Author
Anna Getmansky (PhD, New York University) is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Social and Decision Sciences and a visiting fellow in the Center for International Relations and Politics at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests include conflict and violence, both inter- and intra-state, and her dissertation considered the effects of domestic politics on government protection from insurgency and terrorism, and on the insurgents' and terrorists' choices of targets. At Carnegie Mellon she teaches courses on terrorism and insurgency as well as international conflict, and she previously taught international relations at NYU. Alejandro Quiroz Flores is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the Department of Government, University of Essex. He obtained his PhD in Politics at New York University in 2010, where he was also Clinical Assistant Professor. He specializes in Methodology, Political Economy, and International Relations. His work has appeared or is forthcoming at the British Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, Economics and Politics, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and Foreign Policy Analysis.
